Escher's Sky - Bismuth Pendant by magpie-poet Escher's Sky - Bismuth Pendant by magpie-poet
I like playing with bismuth crystals, when they play fair they have so many places to catch wire on. (When they don't it looks like you're good until the whole thing slips away on you!) Plus the shapes are just so trippy.

I'm trying to cut back my bead buying except for the super tiny string a pendant on or big enough to be a pendant beads. I have too many and don't use them enough!

You could totally rock the bismuth with your more ornate weaves, I'd love to see what you do. I will warn you it can be brittle though.

I very rarely give in to a cab sale, but then it has to be a fantastic price in a destash or from my favorite cab seller. Apart from them I usually buy just seed beads or similar if I really need a color.
I'll have to get back to my "tackle that stash" weekly feature on my blog, maybe that will help me getting into gear! Not that my stash is huge compared to others, but I just can't justify buying more only to have it lie around. I will keep the bismuth in the back of my mind nonetheless.

I went through a small bit of my stash playing with a new style, now I used up all the shapes I had that suited it so need to find another style to run through again. I don't have your self restraint with cabs :D

It's easy to do for me, I simply can't afford to go wild with cabs ;)

:) I tend to binge when I find a good price. And sometimes tumbled stones for kids work great! I did find a new style, now I need shallow cabs to suit it. :facepalm: Vicious cycle.

I used to do that sometimes, too, but the only time that it happened lately was with the ammonites. They were just too tempting. I also work with tumbled stones, but of course a beautifully cut cab is sooo nice :D
Good luck with your new style and finding good cabs for it!

Welcome~ I didn't want to say I'm surprised Bismuth exists, but at the same time I am. I hadn't taken the time to look it up. XD;;;

Really? I used to see it all the time as a kid in like museum giftshops and such.

It's a bit harder to find now. (Generally when I'm looking for it-feel like I saw it everywhere till I wanted to get some for a friend's birthday and it's like they all went into hiding!)

Yes, someone must have bought them all off :D It's name rings me a bell, but I really haven't seen it in real :) And you've used it in jewelry.. a real treasure that is :nod:

Thank you!

What super tempting but probably a really bad idea is you can buy it online and boil it yourself to make 'geodes' of these!
