I was talking with a photographer/scientist I know and they suggested using a polarizing lens on the camera in conjunction with a polarizing film to capture flash. I haven't tried it myself, or if you would need the film as well as the lens, but it's an idea. If you do get a chance to try, let me know how it works!

Lovely wrap and a beautiful stone!

Oh lord, I've not worked with film in forever!

Hrm, I wonder if they make an affordable digital filter like that.

I know for DSLR type cameras there's definitely polarizing lenses. Polarizing film is a plastic sheet with a polarizing coating- not film you put in your camera. That wasn't very clear in my op was it?

:giggle: Nope! I'm still trying to learn my father's kickass old film camera, so I though that's what you meant!

I don't have a dslr but will still try to do some hunting when funds are better.

Oh my goodness, your work is beautiful! I love this one especially

I've been trying so hard to wire wrap stone pendants and cabochons... for some reason, I haven't been able to successfully wrap one. So I gave up xD

I guess think of it as making a cage for the stone rather than a tree. I was wrapping for years before these two (and they're so much better than me, makes me very sad) but I found their tutorial really helpful. [link] I don't make bails that way, but it really changed how I look at wraps.

You're welcome! =]

The link didn't take me to any specific tutorial O.o But I have watched several tutorials now. I know HOW to make them... just, for some reason, I can't get the wire to bend the way I want - or something like that. I imagine it's just a matter of practice, but it's such a shame to waste all that wire practicing lol.

Yeah, that's why I always practice with copper :D

This is a lovely piece, but it doesn't look like much in the thumbnail because of the background. I'd recommend a plain background that shows off those cute little green leaves. :)

 Most of my artist comments tend to be a long string of swears over having trouble getting pictures. The reason I posted this one is that the wicker weave gave the right angle to catch the color. My plain backdrop photos didn't catch the stone so well. Working on it!

Camera troubles. I understand. Have you tried Photoshop?

I use elements. Don't have the skills/money for photoshop. But I can't (well, perhaps I should say don't know how and don't feel ethical about) adding flash to a piece. Non translucent stones I can temporarily attach to a piece of tile and move to get the angle right, but this stone was clear enough that you could see the adhesive straight through :p

I understand. Playing with different backgrounds can be a bit fun anyway. I find my dark-blue bed sheet makes a nice background for some things. ;)

I have some samples of flooring surfaces from the hardware store that I use  Hopefully one the last of the snow melts I can use the fron steps and sidewalks again without getting cold and wet!

Perfect combination of earth and ethereal. Such a pretty wrap. Eventually I'll be brave enough to add these embellishments. Heck, you've already got me using twisted wire. Shouldn't be long now.

No, I'm afraid I've not been able to find stonecutting classes around here. I just chose the stone and wirewrapped it :)

I have trouble finding the carved leaves, so I tend to hoard them and use them sparingly. I've not been able to find garnet ones since the first bunch five years ago.
