St Mungo's Baby Quilt by magpie-poet St Mungo's Baby Quilt by magpie-poet
So not the greatest photo, I know, but the best I could get with the weather what it has been. Had one day not raining when I had a victim to hold this up for me.

(More like small lap size) Baby quilt for a friend, yellow flannel backing and tube for hanging if desired. Patterns from the same paper piece book that the-quilt-who-shall-not-be-finished patterns came from. Backwards banner patch designed by me. (Hense the oops.)

Oh! This quilt is so awesome. I love the design. I have thought of learning how to quilt, but that dang sewing machine is so intimidating! This is very inspiring though.

It isn't so bad. Just start simple. I used to make basic doll dresses and such. I started quilting because I couldn't afford as nice a gift as I wanted to get for a friend's wedding. Not that quilting is cheap, fabric adds up pretty quickly.

It is true though, sometimes even with material costs we can make things to give that we could not afford to buy. I made the majority of my x-mas presents this year.

Takes a long time but is oddly addictive. I'm never sure if it's depressing to find out that it took nearly a workweek to make a dragon, or exciting. Because it feels like forever, but is so much prettier than your paycheck :D (Or, at least than *my* paychecks. That might not be a hard and fast rule...) I found paper piecing tedious at times but nowhere near as hard as I thought it'd be.
