Sterling Swirls Ammonite by magpie-poet Sterling Swirls Ammonite by magpie-poet
Sorry, have a bunch of pieces I was waiting to get better photos of and decided to give up and post for now.

Sterling silver on ammonite.

This is a whole ammonite that had been one of my first ammonite wrap attempts years ago, had decided to retry it. I'm still not sure how to get a good grip on them given the variation in thickness that they have.

Tips/ideas?

(The usual, up for grabs, note me or visit cousins [link] $68 + shipping )

First off, I have no tips to offer as I've never done anything even close to this :O So sorry :(

But this looks really beautiful, it kinda looks like it's in a glass case (which it might be or it's a trick of the light?) and is it just me or does it look like there are autumn leaves trapped in there? :)

It might be the reflection of the different polished depths.

And nope, not just you. I love the fall leaf fractal effect of the sutures :D

That could be it...

I even thought I might just have missed something in the description about "just put in some tiny leaves" haha!

This is really lovely- my very first wire wrapping experiment was on an ammonite....they are such cool fossils. Very nice, neat work!

My first were on some tumbled stones, but the original wrap of this was one of the earliest. Hence finally deciding to redo it.
