Xanadu Geode by magpie-poet Xanadu Geode by magpie-poet
Borrowing from :icondpbjewelry: style for inspiration in my battle with square wire.

I'm not sure on this. I like that the spirals kind of blend in, but I dont' know if it's a little too over the top.

I know the photo needs work. Those clear crystals are really nice, but evil to photograph, since they pick up the color of anything I place the piece against :p

Named after Coleridge's Kubla Khan because it reminded me of the 'pleasure dome with caves of ice' in the poem and it got stuck in my head while making this.

2 1/2" tall by 1 1/8"at its widest.

Other pieces available [link] or note me for this one, $86+shipping. This one will go up there when I get some rather more representative photos!

No, they are absolutely great!
The visually connect the wire frame with the stone and nearly look as if being part of the stone pattern from a bit farer away.

Oh yes, almost all of them are in theory. I just haven't done well with etsy, so don't post nearly as many as I make :)

That's a pretty sick piece. I don't know how you got the patience to do, I sure don't. Was trying it out tonight. What a mess!!! hahah, good stuff though.

You totally need the square for this style. I've been so nervous working with square that I picked up a bunch of square parawire to practice with a bit. This sterling was a bit crabbier to work with, maybe the metal or because the wire was thinner, but it doesn't coil as neatly as the copper based.

It was inspired in part by the style Dusty did on that lemon yellow blade she got from you :)

I'd say your battle is going pretty well! I love how the spirals echo the almost fractal natural pattern in the stone

I keep coming back to look at this one. I love the swirls in the geode reflected in the silver. That and the missing fragment; there's a play between the hollow centre and the open cradle of silver wire at the base. I think this is my favourite of your single stone settings. It's really lovely, Miss Magpie.

Many thanks! I'm glad you feel the space and empty space balances. I was worried that the center might be overpowered.

The swirls do blend in and that really adds to the allure of this piece. I especially love how it sets and the wire bale is just intricate enough to add to the geode's natural beauty.

Thank you. I'm certainly going to be playing with this style again when I get my hands on more geode slices. I'm hoping for brown slices and copper.

Ooooh! I like this! The positive and negative spaces work perfectly with your choice of binding with swirls! Go SQUARE!

The spirals are lovely and the wrap on the top is stunning, but I think I see what you mean; it kind of shadows the stone under it instead of showing it.
