Alright. So, I'm trying to make tutorials for practice in case I do some teaching this fall. I wanted to submit them here for help, but I'm doing them in word for lack of any other program. I posted one here ages ago, but misplaced in under dA tutorials, and that would take a .doc file. Where am I supposed to put how-tos (I was told there was an artisancraft tutorial subcategory, but I can't find it...), and how do I get it to accept my files?

So there's the problem, and me and technology don't get along very well, so if you've any ideas, please leave them here. And use small words...

Oh, and I can't edit my features much because dA isn't letting me browse my own folders or gallery. Any ideas on that one?

I have not posted anything else but images, but... I know there are tools that transform a doc or docx or txt or other formats into a pdf (cute pdf, pdf factory etc). Don't know if pdf is better than doc, but I put in my :twocents:

I have a friend on here, *Sanoon who is a short story author. Send him a note, I'm certain he would help.

That's where you put them! You have to convert them to a pdf file. I think that's what I did. Although I admit it took me forever to figure it out.

Yesh, I can copy and paste Word into the Lit section for my poems but it's probably set up differently...

I bet the pdf file is the way to go. I would tell your computer to Print the tutorial, but then select Print to Adobe from the little window, or how ever it's worded, save it in Adobe as a pdf when Adobe Opens it. Then you can upload to dA. My tutorials I created in Photoshop, bringing in photos of art and pasting them into different layers so I can move them around, then add text next to each photo, compact it all down to one layer and save as a jpg which I upload....

Do you have Photoshop? You might also be able to Select All in Word, copy and paste into Photoshop, (or Select All and drag and drop into Photoshop) and save it as a jpg or pdf that way.

I can submit stories, just couldn't figure how to submit writing outside of lit. Might check him out anyway, what sort of short stories?

I only have elements 3. Not sure what you mean about sort of printing. (I don't have a printer, so I think my laptop might spaz if I try to tell it to print.)

Honestly, I think I've a lot to learn on writing tutorials (never mind taking better photos) before I get a fancier program to make them prettier. Any tips?

Thanks. I thought I could save it as a jpeg, but that fell through.
