ARGH

Having computer issues, so if I vanish mysteriously it's probably nothing interesting, just the pc winning.

Class!

Tue Feb 10, 2009, 7:28 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Listening to: itunes
  • Reading: the magician's book
Edit- Apparently I'm an idiot, because I tried to make a tutorial and submit it here for ideas, but it seems that no matter what I do either it tells me that I need a preview image (which I supplied) or else it ONLY takes the preview image even though I loaded a word document as the actual deviation.

What am I doing wrong?

Oh, and is anyone else having issues going through their own gallery and sorting things?

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I got my first email relating to the earring class I offered to do for an adult ed program. I gave them the info, now I've got butterflies!

Any suggestions for teaching? I've taught friends, but never strangers.

Photographing Stones

Tue Jan 27, 2009, 8:57 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Reading: a half dozen things at once
  • Watching: still sg-1
  • Drinking: tea
Any tips for taking pictures of stones? I wrapped a tourmelated quartz piece with a star diopside and am having even more trouble than usual with my photographs, especially with getting the star in the diopside to show.

Edit- Thanks for the tips, and apologies. I missed the news about the relevant to interests virus thingy and clicked, so I'm not sure if anyone is going to be getting junk from my way now. Sorry! I'll also take tips on how to stop that as well as on photography!

Happy New Year

Thu Jan 8, 2009, 5:17 PM
  • Mood: Tired
  • Reading: uncle john's presidents
  • Watching: sg-1 (finally, I know)
  • Drinking: tea
Recovering from the go to work, crash, go to work, crash cycle of holidays in retail.

I'm somewhat ashamed of myself that I've no dramatic projects to share. I'll try to get on remedying that. I did make well over a half dozen scarves such for next year's family gifts based on instructions I found when looking for ring tutorials...does that count as something?

Hope everyone is faring well and has gotten over the worst of holiday hangovers and bills.

I'm trying to blow through deviations and such, but you know, I forgot just how dam slowly DA is moving these days.

Devious Journal Entry

Uhm, yeah. Besides that fact that if somehow you've missed her work that needs to be remedied *now* She cites a rather worrisome law due to come out early next year. Go, encourange, sign, get angry.

And [link] kittyvane has more info and related links. And a proper, rather elegant entry.

This whole thing is making me think that while I loved plenty of mass produced toys growing up, some of my favorites were handmade ones that I've still got, and if this law goes and goes haywire, lots of kids are going to miss those memories. One more connection to other people made a little more distant...

*sigh* It's the holidays. I work retail. I've been sick for all my vacation time this year thus far. That tells you all you need to know about my mental state. The above article did not improve it vastly.
