So I'm not a great photographer as you guys are all aware, but question for you. Does anyone else have trouble getting macros of light objects on dark backgrounds? Be it moonstone pendants on black velvet or dark stone, or white tulips against granite or dark bushes every time I try to take picture of something white or very pale it comes out like one of those blurry photos people promote as evidence of ghosts. Ideas?

That was happening to me when I tried to take photos of my little mineral specimens!  I just learned about diffuser panels, which are lightweight, white, handheld panels you hold between the sun and your subject. It works great! Diffuser panels are cheap from Amazon, etc. Or try shooting when it's cloudy/overcast.
