Here's the quasi-monthly searching for inspiration entry.

What do you do, art and career if they're different things, how did you get into them?

(I'm back at being told I should go to grad school for library science, but it just seems like a lot of money for something that isn't likely to bring me any closer to a real job or something any more tolerable than what I've got. But I can't say no forever and I feel like I'm out of time.)

PS- Since you guys were great about home remedies for sunburn, how 'bout insomnia and nightmares. (Yes, aparently I'm still 5 inside.)

Art is pretty much my life - I don't "work" due to illness. My mom was a commercial artist for Disney, she hated drawing things she didn't want to draw, so she went freelance and was very successful. You're never out of time, you have your whole life to decide (my grandmother has taught art for probably the past 30 yrs or so, but she still goes to school now and again to learn new things). I think you should take your time deciding on a career if that's indeed what it will be.

Nightmares... I get them a lot. I remember lots of dreams, I get really emotional dreams (like I wake up crying or my boyfriend will wake me up when I start to gasp). I agree with =Ellygator about writing them down or drawing them. I had some reoccurring nightmares.. finally drew it out, haven't had that series of nightmares since. Lavendar and lotus scents are very calming as well.

Sorry this got a little long. I tend to ramble.

Rambling is good.

I don't think I'd want to do arts full time just because I don't think I'd do very well making what I didn't want to. It sounds like you've got a lot of art in your veins.

I like her idea and have a notebok by my bed, but I think it's ended up with more late night project ideas than dreams. I'm not good at remembering much, more the adrenaline crashy feel afterwards. I love lavender, so that I've got plenty of :)

My art is writing/story telling ^.^ and my I don't think i have a career at the moment, but I work in a bookstore. I started there because the job I had previous was horrible, and the book store always seemed a bit more upscale than anything I've worked in the past. I think i was hired by accident too :P

And for nightmares I agree with :icondragomiremil: about dream catchers. Since I've had one my nightmares have gone almost to zero.

The only suggestion for insomnia that I can think of is to find something beautiful and flood your mind with it while trying to sleep.

I know where you work, that's where some of the nightmares come from. And I don't think you were hired by accident :p

Yeah that place can cause nightmares. But here is a little emoticon that should cause giggling :fork: (the yellow smiley was like "You mean I have to keep an eye on my kids while they are in the store?")

I think most of cafe would let me grab a fork for this, but I have a hunch it'd make finding a new job problematic :D

I don't know, I think in prison they have a list you pick from. AND! Stabbing credit would give you a leg up in the inside ^.^ I bet we could ovoid the whole prison/fired thing by downgrading to a spork though. (and for the poor souls that read this who are not familiar with the wondrous spoon/fork invention [link] )

Spritz a little lavender on your pillow before you sleep and boil a tea from valerian root with a little bit of honey to offset the bitterness. I find both of those help. As with nightmares - if it's a recurring thing try to remember and to draw it or write it down. Doesn't have to be pretty or even very scary or recognizable to anyone else, but somehow it seems that at that point your subconscious can let it go...
