Anyone have any tips for treating rug burn? I started to pass out and took a tumble down the stairs this weekend, so besides being really sore and bruised I've very large and unattractive rug burns on both arms and one leg. I've been layering on neosporin and aloe and would be grateful if anyone has any clever ideas about speeding up healing!

I like using that Burt's Bees Res-Q ointment for burns, but I haven't been able to find any lately around where I live. I'm not sure if pharmacies like Walgreens and CVS still carry it. :(

I've never seen that. Like the aloe, a little too late for this time. (Mostly healed, now hoping I don't scar too badly!) But with my grace it's something I'll keep an eye out for. I used to get their more esoteric stuff at a local health/vitamin shop.

I found this picture of it: [link]

It says you can buy it there, but it's way overpriced.

I haven't been able to find it anywhere recently. :( It's the best ointment for EVERYTHING.

Thank you, the way my fall is shaping up I'm going to stock on aloe and any supplies I can find! Do you have Price Chopper near you? Mine has a lot of burt's bees things, though they do tend to be overpriced there too.

We don't have anything by where I live, I swear. I've never heard of price chopper. The only place I've found that has that particular burt's bees product is my university's bookstore, and I'm sure it's in the $8-12 range. -_- I can't wait to get out of Florida.

You're probably just better off with straight aloe anyway. :P maybe pop a vitamin E capsule on there for good measure.

Not a bad idea, it's still healing then I got fried by a mix of medication and sun. *facepalm*

Good luck escaping Florida!

I got some carpet burns attempting 50 pushups in a row, which I managed, which is a fair effort, but as I celebrated the 50th got the old burns. Old fashioned talcum powder does the trick, gone in a couple of days....now working on 51!

Yikes, what a nasty fall! Don't go passing out on us again, gal!

Anyway, I'd also swear by aloe. Best if you actually grow the plant, slice yourself up a leaf and smear the goop right on from the source. If you need to use store-bought avoid the stuff with alcohol in it. It burns like shit and makes things worse!

I do need to get an aloe plant. I ended up using the same stuff I'd bought for my last sunburn. (Good lord, no, not introducing alcohol into this equation anywhere!)

Yes, I've had two for ages now - leave them out all summer and bring them into the house all winter, and they are doing great. Nothing like a freshly cut leaf to smear over a sunburn, cut or real burn. In fact it really helped me with a nasty case of conjunctivitis in February. If the plant grows too big, just break it apart, give some to your friends, and repot one or two of the babies...
